Best Online Pc Games?

Recently bought a gaming computer, its super fast and was wondering what are some fun online games to play!
some friends told me counter strike, others prefer World Of Warcraft. Seems a bit expensive to be playing World Of Warcraft though. So was wondering what you guys think?

Ps3 or Xbox 360?

I'm thinking about going and buying a gaming console to game with my friends which most have either Xbox 360 or Ps3. I'v done some research which is pointing me sort of towards the Ps3. What do you guys think? Xbox 360? or PlayStation3?
